Storyline:
SlumVille is a 15 minute episodic web-series that follows the life of modern-day college graduates, Alora Simmons, Danielle Moore and Jamari Martin. Season one is shot through the perspective of Alora as she navigates the hardships of life after college. Graduating college is a monumental achievement for young adults, but for Alora, she faces losing the housing and food security school provided. Alora must deal with her own real-life drama as she manages being a homeless alumni with student debt.

ALORA SIMMONS (LEAD)
20 to 30 years old, African, Black, West Indies/Caribbean female. Alora Simmons is afro-centric, opinionated and sarcastic. Her narrative in the beginning of season one focuses on her juggling a lifestyle of couch surfing, job hopping, and student loan debt. She battles with her own depression from being jobless after graduating college. Her personality resembles Earnest from ‘Atlanta’ and Daria from ‘Daria’.

DANIELLE MOORE (LEAD)
20 to 30 years old, African, Black, West Indies/Caribbean female. Danielle Moore, former Black Student Union president, Dean’s List veteran, and divine nine soror, has life at her fingertips. She is calm, cool, and collected, as she works for every opportunity possible. She’s the definition of book smart. Her personality is modeled after Coco Conners from ‘Dear White People’/Molly Carter from ‘Insecure’. Season two of ‘SlumVille’ follows Danielle’s POV.

JAMARI MARTIN (LEAD)
20 to 30 years old, African, Black, West Indies/Caribbean, North African, Hispanic male. Jamari Martin ascends from a family legacy of corporate law. His fate to become the next successful lawyer was predetermined, guaranteeing a life filled with money, success, and security; until he is introduced to OnlyFans by his boyfriend Travis. Once his family finds out about his adult content, they withdraw their financial support for his tuition: causing for Jamari to become his families first-generation drop out.

Jamari is the mom of the friend group. He is always taking care of everyone, while nobody is taking care of him. He faces internal conflict between fulfilling his family’s dreams and following his own.

IMANI (Supporting Character)
18 to 25 years old, Indigenous, South Asian, Mediterranean, Southeast Asian, East Asian, Middle Eastern, Eastern European, Mixed Ethnicity, Filipino, Hispanic female. Imani is the epitome of paranoia. She stresses herself out about the threat of what could happen to her in 2030, while forgetting its only 2021. She is the conspiracy theorist that makes YouTube videos at 3AM about the illuminati and college admissions.

RODDY (Featured Extra)
18 to 25 years old, white male. Roddy is arrogant, narcissistic, and thinks all women want him. Roddy is athletic and is a junior in college. He has a crush on Alora.

RENEE (Featured Extra)
20 to 25 years old, Indigenous, South Asian, Mediterranean, Southeast Asian, East Asian, Middle Eastern, West Indies/Caribbean, Eastern European, Mixed Ethnicity, Filipino, Hispanic, Pacific Islander female. Renee acts as though she is the only one destined to succeed. The walking definition of crabs in a barrel. She hoards opportunities for herself and tells everyone qualified after the deadline. She’s shady, strong-willed, and focused on her internship in Congress.

AMELIA (Featured Extra)
18 to 25 years old, all ethnicities female. Must look like a college student. Amelia is a sophomore college student. She typically has an attitude towards the RA’s on campus, often referring to them as the ‘do nothing crew’. Opinionated.

MANDY (Featured Extra)
18 to 25 years old, all ethnicities female. Must look like a college student Mandy is a sophomore college student. She is socially awkward and best friends to Amelia.

AMANDA (Featured Extra)
30 to 40 years old, white female. Amanda is the Head of Resident Services. She is known on campus for overworking her RA’s and forcing them to perform her job duties. Amanda is both upbeat and condescending. Similar to the personality of character Effie Trinket of ‘Hunger Games’.

This project will be filmed in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area. Experience is preferred, but we look forward to seeing actors of all backgrounds audition for any/all roles.
