What If
With her cousin Naomi’s wedding just three weeks away Sophia, a hopelessly single woman desperate to find a date and avoid her family’s scrutiny, turns to Mother Hilaria, a psychic medium, for unconventional assistance.

NAOMI HAZEL – late 30s, Black/African Descent
Fun-loving and inquisitive, Naomi is always seeking new adventures and experiences. She embodies the spirit of a free-spirited soul, unafraid to challenge societal norms and embrace the possibilities that life presents. Naomi’s natural curiosity leads her to question her rooted religious beliefs, exploring alternative perspectives as she forges her own path. Relationships: Naomi shares a deep bond with her cousin, Sophia, whom she considers a sister. She cares for Sophia deeply and wants nothing but happiness for her. As Naomi’s own wedding approaches, she becomes overwhelmed by the interference of her future Nigerian mother-in-law, who attempts to impose changes on their carefully planned perfect wedding. Naomi’s loyalty to her cousin drives her to go to great lengths to find the perfect date for Sophia, determined to ensure that Sophia is not alone and exposed to the inquisitive and crass comments of her wedding guests. In the film, Naomi navigates the complexities of juggling the planning of an upcoming wedding and support for her cousin Sophia.

MOTHER HILARIA – 50, any race
Mother Hilaria is a spritely and vivacious character, with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. Her head is usually adorned in solid color wraps. Hilaria’s expressive face showcases a range of emotions, from stern and focused to mischievous and sassy, reflecting her dynamic personality. Personality: Hilaria is a humorous and lively psychic medium, known for her quick wit and sharp tongue. She possesses a no-nonsense attitude, often providing candid and straightforward advice to her clients. Hilaria genuinely cares for her clients and wishes them the best in their personal journeys. Hilaria believes that individuals have the power to shape their own destinies, and she leaves the final decisions in their hands. Mother Hilaria’s character adds a touch of humor and levity to the movie. Through her sassy and spirited personality, she provides guidance and insight to her clients, including her frequent customer, Naomi. Her ability to balance accuracy with humor creates a unique and memorable dynamic, making her a beloved character in the film.

JOSEPH ADEBISI – late 30s, Black/African Descent
Joseph Adebesi is a charismatic and distinguished Nigerian man, with a commanding presence that exudes confidence and success. His tall stature and athletic build hint at his disciplined and determined nature. Joseph’s dark complexion, accented by a well-groomed beard, adds to his striking appearance. His warm and expressive eyes convey a depth of emotions, reflecting his longing and love for Sophia. Joseph’s disciplined nature translates into his love life, as he holds firm to his high standards and is selective in choosing a partner. He shares Sophia’s pickiness when it comes to matters of the heart. Joseph has carried a torch for Sophia since their high school days. Despite the passing years and their physical separation, his love for her has remained unwavering. When Joseph sees Sophia at Naomi’s wedding after fifteen years, he is immediately captivated by her beauty, a testament to the lasting impression she made on him all those years ago. His heart yearns to reconnect with her and explore the possibilities of a future together. Joseph is a compelling and dynamic character in the movie.
