“Muscle Memory” is a conceptual nonlinear short film that combines the present, along wit flashbacks, and is anchored through tap dance. Tariq, the protagonist, makes his living performing on street corners like his late father, Yahya. On the anniversary of his father’s death he dedicates a dance to him that trigger many memories from his childhood.
Casting Breakdown:
RIQ – Black, Male, 9 – 12, shy kid who aspires to be a dancer like his father, but can’t seem to break out of his shell. (TAP EXPERIENCE NOT REQUIRED)
YAHYA – Black, Male, 30s – 40s, loving single father who constantly aims to provide for his son by passing down his heritage and teaching him the ways of hoofing. (TAP EXPERIENCE NOT REQUIRED)
