ROLE DETAILS
— Project Description: “Birdland” – After a cosmic encounter, a lonely custodian and a suppressed priest discover how deep belief can go. Birdland is a dark comedy that questions subjective belief.The film will be submitted to student and professional festivals after completion.
— Seeking: Union & Non-Union talent are both acceptable.
— — BILLY (male, 40s-60s, protagonist)- a reserved, lonely custodian with a greying personality. Billy has tirelessly worked the same job his whole adult life, causing his perception to become unhinged.
— — FATHER ABE (male, 30s-40s, supporting)- a handsome and wise to a fault Catholic priest. Father Abe attempts to help Billy, but reveals his own suppressed sexuality.
— — MS. SMITH / ALIEN GODDESS (female, 30s-40s, supporting)- a career woman with a heart of gold. She respects Billy, even though his behavior sometimes weirds her out. She’s a woman always trying to give people the benefit of the doubt / A goofy and beautiful alien that Billy dreams up.
— — KEVIN (male, late teens-early 20s for teenager, supporting)- an angsty teen who sees Billy as merely a toy to mess with.
— — POLICE OFFICER (male/female, 30s+)- non-speaking
PROJECT DETAILS
— Rate: Yes, ($75 + per day), meals + copy of film for reels; Union/Non-Union talent are both acceptable. Meals will be provided. Copy of film for reels will be available after the final edit.
— Auditions: TBD October/November
— Rehearsals: TBD January/February
— Shooting: TBD in February, 4 days over two weekends in the Greater Philadelphia Area
— Location: the Greater Philadelphia Area
— Usage: 15 minute student film. The film will be submitted to student and professional festivals after completion.
