Digital Media Workforce Instructor & Production Supervisor
Big Picture Alliance’s Digital Media Workforce Instructor leads “Media Futures”, a 2-year course where students (ages 16-21) learn the 21st Century creative, technical and professional skills needed to enter the workforce or a post-secondary degree program in the field of film & media. They mentor students from script-to-screen; teaching industry standard video, audio and editing equipment through a project-based curriculum. They lead hands-on training through weekly classes, open labs, industry field trips, screenings & broadcasts. As Production Supervisor, they oversee BPA Productions – a team of mentors, alumni and youth apprentices that produces original “works-for-hire” for local clients.

Annual Salary: Starting at $40,000 (30 hr/week) +Benefits
Reports to: Program Manager & Executive Director

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Digital Media Instruction & Mentorship:
Teaches digital filmmaking skills (screenwriting, camera, audio, lighting, editing)
Teaches 21st century skills (collaboration, communication, problem solving, critical thinking)
Leads semi-weekly digital media workshops & open lab sessions
Supervises production shoots
Mentors students through completing digital portfolios
Mentors students through completing industry certifications
Manages equipment & media lab
Project Management
Oversees BPA Productions “works-for-hire” projects
Trains and manages BPA Productions team of mentors & youth apprentices
Coordinates production schedules
Supervises production shoots (equipment & crew)
Oversees deliverables & manages client relations

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:
3-5+ years of teaching or youth mentorship experience in community or school settings
5+ years of professional experience with audio/video production equipment (strong portfolio)
Strong project management & communication skills
Experience with trauma informed & restorative justice practices is a plus, but not required.

Technical Skills:
Proficiency with screenwriting (Celtx preferred)
Proficiency with professional video production equipment (camera, audio, lighting)
Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro (certification preferred, but not required)
Experience with Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Portfolio (preferred)
Experience or certification with drone cinematography is a plus, but not required

Education:
College degree or certification in film, tv, media, or communications is a plus, but not required.
