Greater Philadelphia Film Office
Mark – late 20s/early 30s – dreamy, yearning, observant, understated, stoner – a West Philadelphia transplant lives alone with his dog and routinely watches first person fishing videos on youtube to escape the monotony of his desk. He finds himself floating; he seeks meaningful connection in work, romance, and community.
This is a paid project with the potential for ongoing work as this is a proof of concept for an episodic series.
Please apply with headshots and a recorded reading of the below monologue. No production quality is necessary, recording on phone or webcam is expected. Thank you so much and we look forward to hearing from you.
Mark walks down a wooded path with his dog and friend.
MARK: Well it was me and Anna. We were on the edge of this river in the moonlight. I can’t place it exactly but maybe the edge of a campus or park of some kind. We stayed up all night talking. Eventually her face was getting close to mine and I was so surprised but she kissed me. Right on the mouth. And in the dream I was, like, shocked. That she felt that way about me. But I was also really excited and relieved almost. It was getting kind of chilly and I was holding her around the waist while we were sitting there together in a single big gray hoodie. At the end of the night we were walking away and even in the dream I couldn’t believe it really happened. I was thinking about what I was gonna say to her the next time I saw her and shit. But then I woke up.
