Sarah Thompson has a medium build and big eyes. She is kind-hearted and is used to being able to entrust her friends with anything. After she was raped by her boyfriend, Sarah tries to confide in her friends, but they don’t give her the support she was looking for, so she must figure out how she can come to terms with it a different way.

Daniel is a son of a broken family. His father has never treated his mother with respect. With his friends, he never thought twice about laughing at a rape joke or making one himself. This upbringing, and the fact that he used to like Sarah, effects the way he immaturely reacts to her news of being raped by her boyfriend. He has trouble processing what rape means to him now that it’s happened to someone he knows.

Grace’s life has always revolved around gossip. She has lived in the suburban bubble, not exposed to the horrors that happen more often than talked about. When Sarah tells her about being raped by her boyfriend, her response is set on default, immediately talking about someone else she heard that happening to. In reality, she is heartbroken she didn’t know what to say and researches to write a letter explaining how she wished she responded.
