Lil’ Filmmakers is a digital media arts collective that serves emerging storytellers 11-25 years old from all disciplines of media at any stage in their craft. Our work is built on one belief: great storytelling can change the world. We offer unique immersive experiences with three focal points: professional, personal, and artistic evolution. We use storytelling as a tool to teach Social-emotional Learning (SEL), which is the key to helping young storytellers reach their potential by developing their self-awareness, social-awareness, and self-regulation. From our programs to our public workshops, we invest in our storytellers to make certain that their new productions and projects are high quality and transition them to the next stage of their careers.

Lil’ Filmmakers follows all CDC, City and State health and safety guidelines to protect staff and students from COVID-19 infection. Employees must provide proof of full vaccination (including booster) before starting position. Masks are mandatory in classrooms.

Job Summary
Instructors will be working with 10 students per class at Lil’ Filmmakers office for our Violence Prevention program. Violence Prevention program is a creative project-based storytelling program that will run from December through February. In this program, students are going to make their independent short narrative projects about their own superhero ideas. The instructor position involves delivering instruction aligned to Lil’ Filmmakers’ storytelling curriculum and preparing students to complete their short narrative projects.

Schedule: Classes will be in the evening from December to February for 8 weeks, the specific
starting date is to be determined.
Salary: $50/hour
Subject: Storytelling
Populations to be served: 14 – 18 years old teenagers

Job Responsibilities
• Review and teach our storytelling curriculum.
• Integrate filmmaking tools and supplemental activities into classroom instruction.
• Analyze storytelling examples, including film scenes, film stories, animation stories, etc.
• Provide hands-on instructions if needed, including directing, camera operations, lighting,
microphone set up, acting, etc.
• Review and provide feedback to all students’ assignments.
• Guide students from initial superhero ideas to final short narrative projects.
• Attend required teacher preparation meetings.
• Maintain a positive working relationship and strong communication with program staff.

Qualifications
• Film related bachelor’s degree required or equivalent 3-5 years’ experience in filmmaking.
• Minimum of one year’s classroom teaching experience required (may include internship, volunteer teaching assignment, or small group tutoring).
• Strong storytelling skills
• FBI, child abuse, and PA criminal background clearances are required.
