Greater Philadelphia Film Office

The Rental Tech is a full-time position that acts as the operational arm of the Camera Department. They are responsible for executing any logistical tasks and implementing/executing procedures set forth by the Camera Rental Manager. They will be the face to most clients during checkouts and their technical ability will be scrutinized to ensure that the client is receiving a great customer experience and entrust their technical issues and inquiries with the techs and Expressway. The techs will also assist in executing any department upgrades or improvements, whether that’s a physical infrastructure upgrade or a procedural upgrade. They will work closely in tandem with the Rental Agent to ensure all client’s needs are met to the best of our ability.

Customer Service

Customer Service is essential to the success of this department and maintaining a quality of
customer service across the entire department and its employees is an important responsibility of the position. Customer Service is of the utmost importance and must always be handled with the greatest care. This includes speaking with customers, answering the shop phone, taking orders, and meticulously building orders based on customers’ requests. All orders taken from customers must be handled with the utmost care and attention to detail. An attempt to accommodate all requests will be made before saying no to any customers. If something seems impossible or not worth it, Camera Rental Tech must check with Camera Department Manager before telling the customer we cannot accommodate. Under no circumstances is Camera Rental Tech engaged in a dispute with a customer. Any disputes with Customers and Clients should be brought to the attention of the Camera Department Manager before confronting Clients.

Check-In’s / Out’s

Will provide face-to-face technical support for clients in regards to equipment.
Coordinates with Rental Agent during checkouts to ensure any additions made are accounted for and checked for availability.
Responsible for resetting kits back to their original pack and gathering any notes regarding equipment that may be missing, damaged, or does not belong to Expressway.
Responsible for sub-rental photos being uploaded to Camera Dept. Resources and following up on the accuracy of the return referring to those photos.
Assists in gathering all pertinent information for shipping and receiving sub-rentals.

Equipment Management

Provides feedback on how to further advance efficiency and organization in regards to kits and equipment storage/access.
In cases of damaged equipment, responsible for reaching out to repair service and notifying manager/agent of services required and costs for eval or repair.
Ensures packing slip details are accurate in accordance to the actual kit contents.
Ensures equipment is packed safely and in an organized fashion to ensure the contents of our packages are easy to access.
Expected to learn basic Repair skills (heat shrinking cut cables, soldering DTaps, BNC repair, etc.)
Looks for opportunities to bring packages and kits to the professional level by suggesting specialty/redundancy cables or parts that should be purchased.
Executes any delegated tasks by the Camera Department Manager to improve or upgrade equipment labels and aesthetics.

Department Responsibilities

Researches minute details of our equipment during downtime and constantly advances their understanding of how the camera ecosystem works and how to take advantage of our equipment to accomplish certain tasks.
Learn the differences and the role certain equipment fills and the nuances of compatibility between equipment.
Practices basic repair techniques for future minor repairs.
Learn the technical details of run-times per card/battery life per camera/camera capabilities per model/menu systems per company.
Executes Pickups / Deliveries.
Looks for leads in the camera industry for any potential equipment or news that will keep us current and relevant.

Down-Time Expectancy

Monthly Review Meeting

Responsible for bringing comments and suggestions to improve the department to the attention of the Camera Department Manager.
Prepares material to supplement their objectives and talking points to better illustrate their points.
Listens to input from all employees involved with the meeting to see how they may be able to assist in executing any suggestions or adjustments to procedures and protocols.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of and experience with professional cameras, lenses, and other production equipment required.
Drivers License Required
Ability to stand for 8 Hour Periods
Ability to lift more than 25lbs
Excellent Communication Skills Required
Strong Customer Service Skills Required
Organizational and Multitasking Skills Required
Production Set Experience is a Plus (Especially in regards to Camera)
Experience in Flex Rental Solutions is a Plus
Rental House Experience is a Plus
