About the project:
Stori Strong is a web series about a 10-year-old girl with two moms. Stori is donor-conceived, and she loves talking about her family and her identity. This is a web series for kids in LGBTQ+ families. On July 20th, we’re filming the 5th and final (season finale!) episode of Season One, and we are looking for a few more actors! We need actors for these roles: two dads (one loving/gentle and one fun/fabulous), a bully/mean kid (age 9-13), and the bully’s mom (who scolds her child). We’re also looking for a fun behind-the-scenes (BTS) interviewer/personality to host some upbeat BTS content. Keywords: Kids/family, LGBTQ+, comedy, identity, donor conception, adoption, LGBTQ+ family, webisode (scripted show for YouTube).

Roles – Overview:

AMARA’S DAD – Male, 30-50, any ethnicity; calm, loving, balanced; supporting role/day player; married to Amara’s Pop (2-dad family, with 2 daughters) ** This character was originally written as Caucasian but this is flexible; what’s most important is that the family overall is racially/ethnically diverse. Thank you!

AMARA’S POP – Male, 30-50, any ethnicity; flamboyant, fun, fabulous; supporting role/day player; married to Amara’s Pop (2-dad family, with 2 daughters) ** This character was originally written as Asian American/multiracial but this is flexible; what’s most important is that the family overall is racially/ethnically diverse. Thank you!

MOM OF THE MEAN KID – Female, 30-50, any ethnicity; strict, kind, surprised (angry and embarrassed) when she sees her son being a bully; supporting role/day player

MEAN KID – Any gender, 9-13, any ethnicity; mean, rude, homophobic, but put in his/her place by protagonist Stori Strong; ** This part was originally written as male, but this is flexible; actors of all gender identities considered for this role!

BTS (BEHIND-THE-SCENES) INTERVIEWER FOR SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT – Any gender, ages 10-100, any ethnicity; upbeat, cheerful, outgoing; excited to ask scripted questions and improv questions/conversations too

How to audition:

Filming details:
Date: Saturday, July 20 (rain date: Saturday, 8/10)
Time: 9am-5pm (within this range; most roles require 3-4 hours)
Location: Cherry Hill, NJ (about 20 minutes from Philadelphia, PA)
Stipend: $100/day + $25/travel; lunch and snacks provided * We’re a small, low budget production but full of love & passionate about telling stories & celebrating family diversity!!
Exhibition/distribution: This project is designed for YouTube/online audiences, and will be posted in late 2024
