Film synopsis: An Asian American teenager begins to explore and question a few of the relationships around him due to realizing the effects that microaggressions have towards him. Our protagonist brushes off many of the “jokes” made towards him, some being genuinely funny to him, but there comes a point where he starts thinking deep down within and after reflection, that some of these “jokes” don’t leave a humorous taste to his tongue. He knows that something is wrong but doesn’t quite know what step to take next and if it is even worth it or not. Is it no big deal after all?
I’m looking for a black actor (18-24) that would be one of the perpetrators making microaggressions in this film. The character’s name is AJ and he makes up one third of the friend group that we follow in this short film. Some background is that the three are in their high school’s basketball team and the group heads to the protagonist’s home for a celebratory dinner since they made playoffs. If you are comfortable with this I’d gladly appreciate your help! For scheduling we can discuss as I’d like to work around my actors and crew.
