Hey there! My name is Evan Harris, and I am casting for a low-budget student production as part of my senior thesis project. This is a psychological thriller film about a man who is haunted by the actions of his past while also being pressured to move on. The film is set to be shot on February 22 and 23, March 1 and 2, and another weekend in March, yet to be decided.

For this casting process, we ask that you send in a portfolio and a self-recorded tape (PHILLY PREFERRED). There will then be callbacks for an invitation to come audition in person with the script. Please submit all auditions to 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐦@𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤.𝐜𝐨𝐦.

Down below are the casting details. Thank you and good luck!

𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐧 – Stephen is a troubling and conflicted man. After murdering his mom in his first psychotic episode, he was admitted to a mental hospital. Since then, while he hasn’t been violent, he still suffers from intense dissociative episodes. His reality becomes very different from what is true. He is also haunted by his actions towards his mother, which tends to manifest itself during Stephen’s episodes. While he wants to get better, his urge to run from his past and stay in his torment controls him. He must come to terms with the fact that Stephen cannot get better unless he wants to get better.
– Male, 22-30 years old
– Must be skilled in facial acting

𝐕𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐞 – The veiled figure, while mysterious, represents Stephen’s past. This figure is almost always shrouded in darkness, so you can never quite make out its shape. But its most distinct feature is its glowing red eyes. This figure only moves when Stephen is looking away from it.
– Open to anyone – height requirement 6’2 and over
– Must be comfortable with wearing a mask with a lighting rig set up (precaution will be taken to prevent damage to the eyes).

𝐂𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 – As one of Stephen’s doctors, Cakebread is level-headed and calm. This makes them a perfect foil for their partner, Bonecutter (more on them later), despite their common goals with Stephen. Cakebread prefers to level with their patients and respect their boundaries. They understand that everyone must follow their own paths. However, they will make their professional opinions known, they are a doctor after all. They want to make sure their patients understand their best options.
– Open to anyone 30 – 45 years old

𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 – Contrary to their partner, Bonecutter takes a much more direct approach to their practice. Bonecutter knows they are correct and has little patience for anyone who dares oppose. While Cakebread might try to be as nice and calm as possible, Bonecutter will tell you how it is, no beating around the bush. You can imagine how they behave when they learn Stephen is not taking the steps necessary to help himself. While they might be a little rough on the outside, Bonecutter’s passion is helping people, it’s why they became a doctor.
– Open to anyone 30 – 45 years old

𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 – The victim of Stephen’s first psychotic episode. Stephen’s mother is as gentle and kind as they come. She is also not one to hold a grudge. While she met her demise at the hands of her son, she understood that Stephen had no clue what he was doing. She knows that if he saw things for what they were, he would never commit the act he did. After all, she did raise him.
– Female, 40-50 years old

𝐖𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫/𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 (VOLUNTEER)– a waiter at the restaurant where Stephen, Cakebread, and Bonecutter meet. However, they are not waiters at all; they are nurses at the mental hospital where Stephen finds himself living waiters at all, they are nurses at the mental hospital where Stephen finds himself living at.
– Open to anyone, 22-30 years old

𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭 (VOLUNTEER)– Your run-of-the-mill priest. When he first starts speaking, Stephen cannot hear him which the priest tells him is because he doesn’t listen, causing Stephen to rethink the way he handles his problems.
– Male, 30-50 years old
