Logline:
Bite Me is a short coming of age film about best friends Emily and Lyla, whose different attitudes come to a head when their teacher, Mrs. Fitzpatrick, threatens to enforce a strict dress code.

Synopsis:
Emily is just trying to get through a school day without falling under the critical vision of Mrs. Fitzpatrick. Lyla on the other hand refuses to hide or shrink herself down for anyone, no matter the consequences. Their friendship reaches a point of contention one morning when a regular dress code check turns into a struggle to decide whether or not it is worth it to be yourself when the consequences are punishing. Emily wants to change clothes, fearful of Mrs. Fitzpatrick’s wrath. Lyla is unwilling to change or hide, and pushes Emily to stand up for both Lyla and herself. All the while, Mrs. Fitzpatrick grows ever closer to finding them hiding out.

Roles:

LYLA (18) – Lyla is a confident and outspoken high school student. As a young queer woman, she has given up trying to uphold the status quo. Her rebellious nature and unwillingness to conform sets her apart from her best friend Emily.

EMILY (18) – Emily is a nervous high school student who feels immense pressure to “behave”. She worries about the consequences of rebelling and speaking up for herself and her friend. She has difficulty, at first, seeing why Lyla is unwilling to conform to society’s standards.

MRS. FITZPATRICK (30-70) – Mrs. Fitzpatrick is a strict teacher and a true antagonist. Her strict adherence to the school rules and other social “norms” makes her seem truly threatening to Lyla and Emily.
