Casting for episode three of “Dear Life, You Suck!” a drama-comedy web series about six best friends living in Philly who struggle to navigate life in their mid to late 20s. Attempting to find their place in the world they fight through dreams deferred, disappointments, family tradition, mental health, and marriage in hopes of achieving the lives they dreamed of.

Role Description:a proud, sweet, and headstrong mother. A first-generation American, Rosa worked her way to becoming a respectable Doctor. She just wants the best for her children which can come off as overbearing. Her dreams are for her children to follow in her footsteps. Most of them have except for Michelle her middle child who’s always been the rebel. This causes a rift between the two as Rosa tries to convince her daughter to find a more stable job.

Role Description:Michelle’s younger sister. Unlike her sister, Kim has followed in her parent’s footsteps of becoming a doctor. She’s currently a Pre-med student. The youngest of three Kim is reserved, intuitive, empathetic, and ambitious. She’s inspired by her older sister’s willingness to follow her dreams. But wouldn’t try it herself because she doesn’t want to rock the boat.

We’re shooting for 4 days in July 2022 in Philadelphia, PA. For consideration, submit a headshot, reel, and resume. Actors will receive an email asking for self-tape auditions. On a later date, if selected actors will be invited to a callback via Zoom or Google Hangout with the director. Note: Be prepared to improv. As well as a chemistry test alongside other actors and current cast members. Filmmaker states: “I’m looking for passionate, hardworking, creative, kind, flexible and reliable people to work on this film. Experience is required if you don’t have much experience you are encouraged to apply.
The web series is based on a short film ‘Dear Life, You Suck! Journal Entry One.’ That premiered at the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival. As well as screened at Reelblack’s Film screening and Philm Factory’s Film Lounge. Episodes 2 and 3 follow the pilot ep: They Lied to Us. Which was screened at the Ritz Theater a part of 3 Piece Production showcase in 2021, and various film festivals this year. We are filming both episodes while applying for grants and festivals with the pilot in hopes of finding partners and funding for the rest of the series.”
