The River – Audition Notice
Pigeontown Productions is seeking actors for our short film The River. The River is the story of a father and son as they navigate the ever on-rushing river of time. The son battles the swift currents and dangerous whirlpools that sweep his father away. A meditation on time and meaning, we watch as a son seeks to learn from his father’s mistakes.
Auditions will be held on Monday, June 24th and Wednesday, June 26th at 7pm in the TV Studio (ATC
118) in the Advanced Technology Center at Montgomery County Community College’s Blue Bell Campus at 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422. No preparation is needed for the audition.
The roles available are:
Coxswain – Male Age 16-25 – athletic, preferably has experience with rowing or sculling, must be able to swim.
Rower – – Male Age 16-25 – athletic, preferably has experience with rowing or sculling, must be able to swim.
Man – Male Age 30-40 – father of a young son, former rower, wishes he could get out on the water more often.
Boy – Male Age 6-9 – young boy, sensitive, like fishing with his dad, but worries about the fish.
Elderly Man – Male Age 70+ – Once loved rowing and fishing, now on a ventilator in a nursing home – non-speaking.
Nurse – Female – Age 25-45 – Caring professional, no-nonsense, works in a nursing home, must be able to briefly lift ( with assistance) an elderly man.
Orderly – Male – Age 25-45 – Caring professional, looking for love, works in a nursing home, must be able to briefly lift ( with assistance) an elderly man.
Mourner – Male – Age 40-50 – Mourning the death of his father, wants to fulfill his father’s desire to escape the rat-race.
Other Mourners – Any age, any gender -One speaking, several non-speaking, mourners at a memorial service.
All roles are non-union and unpaid. Production will take place over several days in the month of July. Most characters will only be needed for one or two days.
