The region’s packed calendar of big-ticket sporting events and America’s 250th birthday programming is expected to boost film production here this year, Erin Wagner, co-executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, tells Axios.

The hit Netflix series Tires receives $6 million from PA’s Film Production Tax Credit program for its third season.

Philadelphia continues to be a destination for new and veteran filmmakers alike. Screenwriters can be seen as the architects of film, building the structure of the films we see on screens. The Greater Philadelphia Film Office serves to attract film and video production to the region, and Co-Executive Director Erin Wagner stopped by to share the roles and resources available.

State officials say the crime drama, led by Mark Ruffalo, will create 3,700 jobs and inject more than $194 million into the Pennsylvania economy.
