Job Description: ‘At The End Of The World’ is a short film about finding a path to freedom through
love. The story follows Black teens Yvette and Ernest through fragments of their summer in
Wildwood, New Jersey. With no dialogue, we are guided through their journey by Yvette’s
narration. The two learn that the pursuit of love is a progressive one and learn to see the
power of embracing their humanity. With visual and tonal inspiration from Forever (2025) and
Waves (2018), the film will utilize a fluid and dream-like style. Creating a youthful, emotional,
and immersive viewing experience.

ROLES BEING CAST:
YVETTE (Late Teens, Black):
Yvette struggles with self-hate and shame. She has soft features, long hair, and a retreated personality/style of dress.
Yvette is very empathetic, as she feels other people’s pain deeply she resents her perceived lack thereof. Despite all of this, Yvette still feels like there’s more to life she’s missing, a feeling she tries to ignore. When she meets her love interest Ernest, he shows her the beauty she was tuning out.

Character Traits – Retreated, non-judgmental, emotional, reflective/critical, intelligent, love interest to Ernest
Special Notes – Able to deliver a poetic vocal performance, comfortable with romantic/kissing
scenes, improvisational

ERNEST (Late Teens, Black):
Ernest has often been rejected for being himself. He feels pressure to behave a certain way by people in his life, that he hides parts of his personality.
His love interest Yvette is the first person not to judge him for reaching out to her, he knows something lies beneath her reservation as something lies beneath his. Ernest is goofy and creative, he makes note of things and holds them close. He has short hair and kind features that contrast with a semi “intimidating” frame.

Character Traits – Calm, unintentionally funny, sentimental and attentive, love interest to Yvette
Special Notes – Comfortable with romantic/kissing scenes, improvisational
