Synopsis of the short:
“Rot” is a raw psychological drama following Alexander, a young man drowning in isolation and depression. The film opens with him on the verge of self-harm during a breakdown in his decaying bedroom. Through a montage of mundane yet haunting moments—ignored at work, ghosted by friends, and numb in his empty apartment—his despair deepens. A fleeting phone call from George, an old friend, sparks fragile hope, but their coffee shop reunion only highlights Alexander’s invisibility as he masks his pain. The final act spirals into silence: Alexander collapses at home, wastes away in bed for days, and, in a chilling climax, grasps a knife, whispering, “What’s the point anymore?” before the screen cuts to black.
