Job Description: Colorist Needed for Feature Film – “MAN FREED”

Location: Greater Philadelphia / South Jersey Area (Remote-Friendly with Local Preference)
Compensation: Paid (Please provide detailed quote)

We are seeking a Colorist to complete the color correction and color design for MAN FREED — a 90-minute, dialogue-driven art-house feature inspired by Lord Byron’s “Manfred.” Produced by Sage & Taurus, an independent production company based in the Greater Philadelphia area, the film was shot in LOG and is now entering the final stage of post-production.

Filmed across New Jersey and Philadelphia, MAN FREED is a poetic, metaphysical historical drama set in the early 19th century. The film follows a reclusive aristocrat haunted by guilt and the memory of a forbidden love, as he retreats into the wilderness in search of redemption. Stylistically, it draws influence from Romanticism and painterly visuals — emphasizing texture, shadow, and tone to reflect its protagonist’s internal world.

We’re looking for a talented Colorist with an eye for cinematic storytelling, mood, and precision to bring this vision fully to life.

Color Correction:
-Balance and match all shots for consistency and continuity
-Refine exposure, white balance, and contrast across scenes
-Address any inconsistencies in lighting or color temperature

Color Design / Grading:
-Establish a cohesive look that aligns with the film’s poetic and Romantic aesthetic
-Elevate the film’s naturalistic palette to evoke its period setting and emotional tone
-Collaborate with the director to define mood, visual themes, and progression
-Apply finishing touches for a professional, festival-ready master

Deliverables:
-Final graded master (ProRes / DNxHR or uncompressed format)
-LUTs if requested
-Scene-by-scene review / approval pass

Project Details:
-Runtime: ~90 minutes
-Genre: Historical fiction / Metaphysical drama
-Shot in: LOG
-Aesthetic: Painterly, poetic, naturalistic, with subtle surreal elements

Who We’re Looking For — A skilled Colorist who:
-Has experience grading narrative feature films, especially dialogue-driven or period pieces
-Understands how to use color to underscore theme, mood, and emotion
-Has a strong grasp of cinematic tones, dynamic range, and skin tone accuracy
-Can provide examples of previous work (before/after reels, graded stills, or features)
-Is based in Greater Philadelphia or South Jersey (preferred) or open to remote collaboration
-Can provide quotes, deliverable lists, and estimated turnaround time

What to Include in Your Submission:
-Portfolio or Reel showcasing relevant color work (features, shorts, or similar projects)
-Credits/Resume or short bio highlighting experience in color correction/design
-Quote/Estimate including rates, timeline, and number of review passes
-Availability (we’re ready to begin color in the coming weeks/months)

This is a unique opportunity to collaborate on a visually rich, emotionally resonant film that prioritizes tone, composition, and atmosphere. We’re especially interested in colorists who bring a story-driven approach — who see grading not just as correction, but as emotional storytelling.
