Doylestown Filmmaker Jennifer Lin is out with her second documentary about AsianAmericans in the dance world.
About Face: Disrupting Ballet highlights the work of NYC Ballet soloist Georgina Pazcoguinand choreographer Phil Chan, who are successfully challenging the elite world of ballet tojettison offensive racial tropes from beloved ballets like The Nutcrackerand La Bayadère.
About Face comes on the heels another Pentalina Productions’ film, Ten Times Better, ashort doc now streaming via PBS’s American Masters. The acclaimed film reveals theunheralded legacy of an 88-yearold blackjack dealer in Las Vegas who, as a teenage refugee from China, originated the Tea dance in George Balanchine’s 1954 premiere of TheNutcracker.

Jennifer Lin worked for The Philadelphia Inquirer for 31 years, including posts as acorrespondent in China, New York and Washington, D.C. About Face: Disrupting Ballet isher third documentary. Her previous films, which have broadcast nationally on PBS,include Beethoven in Beijing and Ten Times Better. Jennifer is author of a family memoir,Shanghai Faithful: Betrayal and Forgivenessin a Chinese Christian Family, and an oralhistory based on Beethoven in Beijing.
