CASTING CALL – INDEPENDENT SHORT FILM
Something to Survive For is a independent dramatic survival short film that is seeking actors for principal and supporting roles. Filming will take place throughout the Lehigh Valley, the Pocono Mountains, and Northern New Jersey during Summer 2026.
PROJECT SYNOPSIS
Something to Survive For follows two teenage brothers on a hiking trip deep in the wilderness. After a devastating accident leaves one brother seriously injured and unable to move, the other must travel alone through unforgiving terrain in search of help. Battling exhaustion, injury, isolation, and the elements, the brothers fight to survive as time works against them.
ALEX (16)
Lead | Teen Male | Dramatic / Physically Demanding
A courageous and determined teenager forced into a wilderness survival situation after a hiking accident leaves his brother critically injured. Emotionally raw and physically exhausted, Alex must rely on instinct, resilience, and adaptability to survive.
Performance Notes:
Strong emotional realism required. Role involves physically demanding outdoor filming including hiking, running, climbing, and water-based scenes.
JASON (18)
Supporting Lead | Teen Male | Dramatic
Alex’s older brother. Grounded, loyal, and emotionally steady. Jason serves as an emotional anchor throughout the survival narrative and maintains a deep connection to family despite overwhelming circumstances.

Seeking subtle, restrained dramatic performance with strong emotional chemistry.
JIM (30s–early 40s)

A practical and experienced outdoorsman who believes in teaching independence through experience. Calm and emotionally restrained, though deeply caring beneath the surface.
SARAH (30s–mid 40s)
Supporting | Female | Mother
Emotionally intuitive and protective. Sarah serves as the emotional center of the family and struggles with fear, uncertainty, and letting go of control.
SHERIFF COLLINS (late 50s–early 60s)
Supporting Lead | Male | Law Enforcement
Experienced sheriff leading rescue operations. Calm, authoritative, observant, and compassionate under pressure.
RANGER MORALES (late 50s–early 60s)
Supporting | Any Ethnicity | Wilderness Ranger
Disciplined and highly experienced wilderness professional assisting in search and rescue operations. Quiet, methodical, and emotionally restrained.
FILMING LOCATIONS
Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania
Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania
Northern New Jersey
Majority of filming will take place outdoors in wilderness environments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Actors should be comfortable with:
Extended hiking outdoors
Uneven terrain and wilderness environments
Heights and mountain overlooks
Working in and around water
Some scenes may include:
Creek crossings
Pond/lake scenes
Mountain overlook locations
