On the eve of winter break, an insomniac undergraduate makes the trip from his rural liberal arts college in Connecticut to his family in the suburbs of Philadelphia, joined by his self-assured sort-of-girlfriend and their gregarious high school acquaintance, caught between two places that don’t quite feel like home.

BUG (early 20s, he/him): Once a promising varsity baseball player, Bug is searching for meaning in this new environment and hasn’t found much. He’s charming, soft-spoken, but self-absorbed, with a flare for self-pitying dramatics.

THOMASIN (early 20s, she/her): High school was a nightmare for her; college is a sigh of relief. She’s smart, sensitive, flirtatious, and firmly aware of her boundaries, with real reservations about Bug’s myopic nature.

DANNY (early 20s, any): A confidante to Thomasin and a foil to Bug, Danny is strange, straight-forward, and an effortless social butterfly.
