Logline: On Christmas Eve, a grief-stricken man wakes to find his home filled with the spirits of his deceased relatives, giving him one last family gathering. Forced to confront the guilt he’s been carrying, he must decide whether to remain trapped in his grief or finally allow himself to move forward.

Production Details
Location: Philadelphia, inside one home.
Shoot Dates: December 4, 5, 11 & 12
Compensation: $400 flat rate for all four production days-deferred pay

Echoes is an independently produced short film with a passionate team already coming together. The cast, Production Manager, and Production Designer are secured through the Scribe Video Center development grant. I’m currently finalizing grant and sponsorship funding for the production.

Director of Photography (DP)
-Collaborative, hands-on creative partner. Comfortable working closely with the director throughout prep and production. The director and DP will review reference films, discuss visual language, and build the shot list together side by side. This is a hands-on creative partnership.
-Story-driven visual approach. We’re looking for a DP who thinks beyond cameras and technology and is deeply engaged with how cinematography serves the story, characters, and tone.
-Strong understanding of lighting and skin tone. Experience lighting Black skin tones thoughtfully and beautifully, with the ability to create and maintain two distinct tonal palettes within the same production.
-Strong coverage instincts. Able to work with the director to develop efficient coverage that protects the story and performances while staying realistic within a tight schedule.

Assistant Director (AD)
-Strong scheduling and blocking instincts. Able to break down the shooting script into a schedule and determine the most efficient order for blocking and coverage.
-Efficient coverage planning. Understands what angles, takes, and setups need to be captured—and in what order—to make the most of limited shooting time.
-Strong time management on set. Able to manage setup times and keep a full day moving so that complex scenes are completed before we lose light, momentum, or actor energy.
-Experienced with ensemble scenes. This is an ensemble piece with several overlapping-dialogue scenes, multiple rooms within one location, and up to seven actors in a scene. We have only four shoot days, so efficient planning and execution are essential.
-Clear, proactive communicator. Flags potential issues early, communicates changes clearly, and doesn’t allow small problems to become day-of emergencies.
-Confident with a full room. Comfortable managing multiple actors, departments, and moving pieces while keeping the schedule on track without sacrificing the creative energy of the day.
