| Job Description: | Three high school boys miss their train home, and that small mistake forces them into a moment they’ve been avoiding. With college decisions looming over them, the night becomes a pressure cooker where truths finally start to surface. And for Eli, the stakes are even higher as he’s been carrying a secret that could reshape their entire friendship. The story unfolds inside an old childhood diner, a place loaded with nostalgia and unfinished conversations. It’s here that Eli finally tells his friends the truth: he got into the dream school they all wanted, and he’s leaving Philadelphia without them. What follows is confusion, tension, and a lot of envy, but also the messy, chaotic love that comes with real friendship. This is an energetic, fast-paced short that throws us right into the eye of the storm. We watch Eli wrestle with the hardest decision he’s ever faced: choosing between the future he’s worked his whole life for… or the friends who helped him become who he is. And at this moment, it seems he might not get to have both.
ELI: Playing age 17, youthful, teenage look. A somewhat over-confident yet fragile teenager, hoping that he and his sister get into their dream college. Must be able to shift between faster, natural dialogue and silent emotional beats where the story is carried entirely through subtle facial expression. MAYA: Also age 17. Smart, driven, and a little tightly wound. Maya’s the kind of person who’s always had a plan and stuck to it: good grades, big goals, no shortcuts. Getting into UCLA isn’t just a dream; it’s everything she’s worked for. She can be a bit intense and impatient (especially with her twin brother), but it all stems from her deep care. Underneath it, she’s still a kid who’s nervous, hopeful, and wants it all to pay off. WE NEED YOUNGER VERSIONS OF BOTH ELI AND MAYA. AGES 6-7. THESE ACTORS SHOULD MATCH THE CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS ABOVE. Actors will be paid $100/day. Contact Madeleine at madeleine.yurchuk@gmail.com with headshot and resume. |
