Proof of Concept for MA in Media Studies Final Project – NEED ACTORS!!

2024-09-30T19:22:37+00:00

A proof of concept shooting 2-3 scenes for my final project for the MA degree in Media Studies and Production. The short film centers around a gay man in his final therapy session, reminiscing on all of the trauma of homophobia he's endured to reach the place of self-love he is in today. I have already finished the script (roughly ~1hr length); I may extend or reduce the length of the script based on my meetings with my graduate committee. I'm hoping to film some scenes where, upon graduation, I can pitch this idea to a production company to hopefully get it off its feet! I will attach the character backgrounds below. Characters in bold will definitely be filmed for the proof of concepts; non-bolded characters may be featured in the proof of concept based on time & availability. Looking to shoot throughout October with actors with the most open availability. If you are interested in auditioning for a role, please email me at mitchellhuramamspfinalproject@gmail.com, with the subject header as: METAMORPHOSIS MAMSP FILM - AUDITION REQUEST. Thank you in advance! THEO Lead. Male. 24-28 The protagonist of the story. A gay man coming to terms with his dark past. Kind, generous, but also deeply traumatized from homophobia and its various consequences on society. Slightly desperate to find love with another partner, but this stems from his own insecurities and traumas. Tendency to be a hot head from all he has dealt with. Despite all of the challenges Theo has faced in life, he has learned to find comfort in his authenticity and determination to not lose himself in the midst of toxic gay culture. Ethnicity: White / European Descent Required Media: Headshot/Photo, Video footage of Side for Audition DR. ROZZ Supporting. Female. 40-45 Theo’s therapist for the past 2-3 years. Supportive of Theo’s spiritual journey, Dr. Rozz assumes almost an omniscient figure for Theo. Dr. Rozz guides Theo through his revelations of his traumatic experiences with homophobia, pushing him to the right direction of self-love and care. Ethnicity: White / European Descent Required Media: Headshot/Photo, Video footage of Side for Audition CHRISTIAN Supporting. Male. 24-28 Theo’s ex-boyfriend. An aspiring Family and Marriage Counselor, Christian embodies the worst of toxic gay culture. Christian is divided between his feelings for Theo, and saving face for his family, fearing losing them over his sexuality. Christian’s drug and alcohol abuse issues also contribute to significant behavioral problems, further deteriorating his relationship with Theo. Ethnicity: White / European Descent, Latino/Hispanic Required Media: Headshot/Photo, Video footage of Side for Audition JEFF Supporting. Male. 24-28 Theo’s best friend from college. Jeff supports Theo in his sexuality journey, encouraging him to not let himself be mistreated or fetishized by friends or romantic partners alike. Ethnicity: White / European Descent, African American Required Media: Headshot/Photo, Video footage of Side for Audition DEVON Supporting. Male. 24-28 Theo’s other best friend from college. At times invasive with his curiosity over gay life and culture, Devon also wants the best for Theo. Ethnicity: White / European Descent, African American Required Media: Headshot/Photo, Video footage of Side for Audition KATHRYN Supporting. Female. 24-28 Theo’s former best friend from college. Kathryn fetishizes and mistreats Theo as if she were his accessory (i.e. her “gay best friend”), causing Theo substantial discomfort and emotional pain as evident in his therapy sessions. A party girl, Kathryn is blissfully unaware of how her behavior affects Theo. Ethnicity: White / European Descent Required Media: Headshot/Photo, Video footage of Side for Audition
