Event Details

Michael Kuetemeyer & Anula Shetty discuss their process of working with community groups to develop issue oriented Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality projects that celebrate local histories and address local challenges. What do these new media technologies have to offer? How can artists and audiences be educated to engage in the unique aesthetics of emerging media forms?

These questions are explored through a discussion of their project, Places of Power, an immersive VR documentary about people and places of belonging in North Philly. This project is a collaboration with the Village of Arts and Humanities. They will also present the work that they did in collaboration with communities in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to address environmental sustainability.
