In anticipation of THE ART OF THE DOC: A MASTER CLASS WITH BARAK HEYMANN, the Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival and University of Pennsylvania Cinema Studies are pleased to present a free screening of MR. GAGA.
Lauded by Variety as “the most exciting documentary for fans of edgier modern dance since Pina,” MR. GAGA has won awards from esteemed film festivals across the globe. The documentary profiles Ohad Naharin, Artistic Director of the Batsheva Dance Company, one of the most highly regarded dance companies in the world. Meeting him at a critical turning point in his personal life, this spirited and insightful documentary introduces us to a man with great artistic integrity and extraordinary vision. Filmed over a period of eight years, director Tomer Heymann and producer Barak Heymann mix intimate rehearsal footage with an extensive unseen archive of breathtaking dance sequences. What results is a portrait of a genius – an artist who redefined the language of modern dance for generations to come.
As space for this screening is limited, pre-registration is required. To reserve your seat, please call 215-545-4400 or visit PJFF.org.
