Memorializing the Pandemic
Friday, September 18 at 7:00 PM

During these unprecedented times, we are unable to connect with our loved ones. COVID19 has impacted everyone in the world. We have lost more than 900,000 lives globally to the COVID-19 pandemic this year. Whether we know someone affected by the virus, survived it ourselves, or have suffered a loss, life as we knew it drastically changed.

As the numbers continue to rise by the thousands daily, John Henry Thompson, a computer scientist and artist, has been visually tracking the rising numbers through an online dashboard. This Friday we will take the time to acknowledge those changes and losses by facilitating a conversation about Memorializing the Pandemic. In a presentation of how this data can be humanized, Thompson and artist and Philadelphia Jazz Project director, Homer Jackson will have open dialogue about how to approach this.

(Friday) 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The Greater Philadelphia Film Office (GPFO) is a "film commission" representing southeastern Pennsylvania that officially serves the counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia.

We are a member of the Association of Film Commissions International (AFCI). GPFO, first established in 1985 as a part of Philadelphia city government, continues to reside within city offices.

In 1992, we became a regional economic development agency, incorporating in 2000 as the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation.
