The Rape of Recy Taylor is Buirski’s second documentary about the recent history of the intersection of race and justice in the US. Buirski meticulously retells the story of the original violent crime followed by the more subtle but no less damaging denial of justice that Ms. Taylor, her family and countless other survivors have had to endure. In this workshop, Buirski will explore the art of creating a personal/political film about race. How does one use visuals and cinematic styles to ensure emotional engagement? How does one approach making a film about someone outside of their own race when the subject directly addresses racial injustice? $25 General, $15 Scribe members
