Have you ever wanted to make your own independent feature, short, or web-series? With today’s affordable technology and vast entertainment channels, it’s never been in closer reach. But to do it right, you really need a guide; someone who’s been through it all successfully before.

This seminar will get you on the right track! From script development through pre-production, production, post production and achieving distribution, independent filmmaker Stuart Connelly will take you through the steps you need to consider to make your own low-budget – but high-quality – project. Some of the topics he’ll cover are:

  • Envisioning a story within your unique parameters to make it affordable;
  • How the ten departments work together… and how to staff them economically;
  • How to attract professional actors to your project;
  • The secret weapon to quality: shoot planning, scheduling, budgeting;
  • Learning to shoot your story — film grammar, camera angles, creating a big-budget “look;”
  • How the edit, color grade, and score create the tone of your project (and how that tone helps land distribution);
  • Insight into affordable visual effects;

For ages 13+ $49

The Greater Philadelphia Film Office (GPFO) is a "film commission" representing southeastern Pennsylvania that officially serves the counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia.

We are a member of the Association of Film Commissions International (AFCI). GPFO, first established in 1985 as a part of Philadelphia city government, continues to reside within city offices.

In 1992, we became a regional economic development agency, incorporating in 2000 as the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation.
