Derek Freese Documentary Fund announcement of 2017 grant award

Almost Sunrise is a new, award winning documentary film about veterans and their families.  In an attempt to put haunting combat experiences behind them, two friends embark on an epic 2,700-mile trek on foot across America, seeking redemption and healing as a way to close the moral chasm opened by war.  The filmmakers and the veterans who took that journey will participate in a post-screening conversation with the audience.
