Bryn Mawr Film Institute is thrilled to welcome renowned Philadelphia-based cinematographer and inventor Garrett Brown on Wednesday, December 6, at 7:00 pm for an educational and entertaining evening where he will discuss his innovations, show clips and examples from projects old and new, and answer questions from the audience. Brown visited BMFI in July and hosted this fascinating program exclusively for industry professionals from across the country. We’re thrilled that we can now bring it to you!
Garrett Brown transformed the process of making motion pictures forever with his breakthrough invention: the Steadicam. Used in scores of beloved films, the revolutionary technology—for which Brown earned an Academy Award for technical excellence in 1978—allows camera operators to move freely while maintaining a stable and steady line of vision for the camera. After creating the original Steadicam in 1972, Brown pioneered dozens of other inventions, including the Mobycam, the Skycam, and the ‘Zeen” Elevated Walker Chair, and holds over 50 patents worldwide.
