This workshop is geared to make you a more confident self-starter independent filmmaker/videographer. This informative workshop will be broken up into 2 days. Each day with a duration of 3 hours.

The First day will cover the necessary functions of a video/dslr camera. Here we will discuss the basic manual modes on a video/dslr camera that are essential to any person pursuing a career in the world of cinema. This will include white balance, iso, aperture, and shutter-speed. After this stage is explained and demonstrated, you will have walked in using your camera in automatic mode and out in full manual readiness.

The Second-half of the First day will cover the fundamentals of capturing audio for video/film/tv. Here we will discuss shotgun microphones, boom poles, field mixers and audio recorders. You will have your turn to touch and feel the audio gear itself. You will learn what types of microphones to use in various situations. At the end of this lecture and demonstration, you will be enlightened to have learned the importance of sound for filmmaking.

The 2nd day of this workshop will focus on lighting for film/video. We will cover three-point-lighting setups. We will discuss the various types of lights used in the industry and in the independent market. We will talk about white balance again; light modifiers, flags, gels, softboxes, open-face lights, light-stands and diffusers. At the end of this lecture and demonstration, you will have set up light-stands and lights. You will be excited to learn; because at the completion of each workshop, you will be sent an in depth tutorial(s) that will cover what was discussed and demonstrated in the previous class.

This workshop is set to demystify everything that an independent filmmaker needs to understand BEFORE he or she begins to shoot. It’s to make you aware of all of the information that is right in front your fingertips. It’s to make you a more confident filmmaker than ever before.
