Event Details

FirstGlance Film Festival, Philadelphia’s Independent Film Festival since 1996, brings its twenty-second anniversary event scheduled for Friday, November 1, Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3 to the Philadelphia Film Center, 1412 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102.

FirstGlance curates a wide selection of independent films each year and is proud to present theatrical screenings of all lengths and genres by professional, first-time, student, national and international filmmakers. Included in 2019’s selections are films with Philadelphia-area natives in-front-of and behind-the-cameras; the features Catching Up by Bill Crossland, ½ New Year starring Brooke Lewis, The Honeymoon Phase by Phillip G. Carroll Jr., and Right Before Your Eyes by David Vincent Bobb, the short documentary APEX: The Appalachian Experience by Jeffrey Wallin, the short Simple Things by Chad L. Scheifele, and the music videos Fire Girl by Gordon Shoemaker and Honest Opinions by Nick Murphy. The international filmmaking communities of Canada, China, England and Switzerland are also represented among the official selections.

Actors appearing in FirstGlance selections include Patton Oswalt (Veep, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Fred Armisen (Portlandia, Saturday Night Live), Tara Westwood (Blue Bloods), Francois Chau (The Tick, Veronica Mars), Sam Daly (Madam Secretary), Jonathan Fernandez (Lethal Weapon), Shanley Caswell (NCIS: New Orleans), Rome Flynn (The Haves and the Have Nots, How to Get Away with Murder), and Bo Youngblood (Days of Our Lives, Conan).

The weekend event will include a closing night awards ceremony presented by Raphael Sbarge from the TV series Once Upon a Time, unique screening programs and geek favorites, networking with filmmakers, cast and crew, parties at Tavern on Broad, Drinkers Pub and more, and filmmaker interviews on the red carpet. Plus, audiences get to vote for “Best of the Fest.”

ABOUT US

The Greater Philadelphia Film Office (GPFO) is a "film commission" representing southeastern Pennsylvania that officially serves the counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia.

We are a member of the Association of Film Commissions International (AFCI). GPFO, first established in 1985 as a part of Philadelphia city government, continues to reside within city offices.

In 1992, we became a regional economic development agency, incorporating in 2000 as the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation.
